When you go to a beauty salon you are usually asked if you want the same or something new. For a change, choose something new. If you hair is short, try it shorter. If it is layered try it longer in the back and short on top. If it is long get it cut shorter.Of course if this is your first visit, you will have to work with the hairstylist to decide how you want it cut. This is a good time to experiment with hair styles.

The nice thing about hair is it grows. Believe it, it will grow. So if you get a short cut it will not take long to grow out if you don’t like it. There are so many hair styles and no rules, really, anymore. Just about anything goes. You just have to have the courage to just do it!

Generally the salon where you get your hair cut will have a selection of magazines with hair styles in it. Or you can go on the internet and check out hair styles. The other good thing to remember about hair is if you do something wild, and don’t like it you can always wear hats to cover it until it grows. Or you can have your hairdresser restyle it. It is always fun to try something new and this does include hair styles. You will be amazed at the comments and compliments you will get with a new do for a new you.

Pin them behind your ear with cute clips or barrettes. This will increase the volume of your hair and make it look thicker. Whatever style you choose, blow dry your hair from the roots up, at an angle. This adds natural volume to your hair and it’ll look thicker.

Every once in a while you may think it would be fun to have a vintage hair style. Of course, most beauty salons don’t have Marcel machines anymore. But you can have your hair stylist give you a flapper or a pixie cut. Or you can have her put finger waves in a short hair style that will add a touch of vintage look to your style.

If you look at pictures of the older movie stars you will find a lot of different hairstyles than we see today. Their hair styles were more styled and formal whereas today we tend to have a more carefree hair style. Of course, the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s were before hot rollers and such. If you wanted a curled hair you either pined it up in curls with hair pins or you slept in rollers all night. Today we have other ways to go retro. You can get short bangs then make them curl under. Cascading locks were also popular. You could also have crimped waves for a vintage look. If you chose to try a short bob, don’t forget your cat’s eye glasses. Hair was often shorter at the sides with curls to the ear, then longer hair in the back. Hair seemed to be more conservative though.
You can have your hair stylist try some of these for a party, but it would be unlikely you would want it as your permanent hair style. But it is fun to play.

You have a big vacation trip coming up and you want to do something to your hair. This is not the time to try a new or elaborate hair style because you will not be used to styling it and you will probably be unhappy with it. A big trip whether to Perris, California or Paris, France is not the time to have to think about your hair style, especially if it is a new one to you.

If you do decide to change your hair style, try a simple change. One that is similar to your current hair style but that is simpler to take care of. If you think about it you may be spending hours either flying or driving to your destination. Airplane toilets are not the place to re-style your hair. Neither is your friendly highway motel. You want something that you can either put up quickly or splash with water to style. Or maybe something you can cover quickly with a hat or scarf.

And think about this. Do you really want to spend your vacation time in the bathroom styling your hair? Most likely you won’t. Besides, no one at your destination will know what you looked like before, aside from your passport picture, of course, so you are already a new face to them.
One way to make your hair appear different to you is to use hair grips or pretty clips. Your best bet is to be carefree and enjoy your trip.
