Picking a Hair Color
Coloring your hair can be a big moment—however, you don’t want to end up with fake looking hair that makes you look washed out or too tan or whatever undesirable affect that you are trying to avoid. The point is, you need to find a shade that will work for you.
First of all, you don’t have to follow the three shades below your natural hair color rule—but it certainly helps! You can go a little bit darker or lighter, but you need to keep a few things in mind.
Secondly, look at your skin tone. Do you have a tan or pale complexion? A bluish skin tone or a more yellowish or warm skin tone? Keep these things in mind as you choose your hair color. For example, if you want to go red or blonde, it may not look quite as natural if you’re as tan as a beach bum. This isn’t saying that you can’t choose a blonde shade, but you may want something with warmer tones or with bluer tones if you’re pale.
Thirdly, look at your natural shade. Let’s face it—there’s nothing cute about roots. They’re, in all honesty, kind of weird, and don’t look quite right. Your best bet is to choose something that is closer to your natural skin tone so that your roots don’t show up quite as badly before you have the time to touch it up.
Lastly, have fun with your hair color options. Even by following these tips, you still have a plethora of colors and shades that you can choose from.
